FAQ
As this recipe is truly unique and far away from the regular latte that is saturated with caffeine and carbs — and not saturated fats! — let’s tackle first some questions that you might have in your mind:
What ingredients do you need for this unique-sounding drink?
To create the tantalizing Carnivore Latte, you’ll need a few key ingredients that come together to form a nourishing and flavorful beverage. Here’s what you need: piping-hot bone broth (1 cup = 240 ml), 2 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons of grass-fed butter or tallow, and if you want your latte sweet, a pinch of natural sweetener such as stevia to taste.
Is this drink complicated to make?
Not at all! Despite its unique combination of ingredients, this luscious latte is surprisingly simple to make. The preparation process is straightforward. All you need to do is combine these ingredients in a blender, blend until well combined and frothy, and then serve immediately. This uncomplicated method allows you to effortlessly create a satisfying beverage that can easily become a part of your daily routine without any hassle. No need to laboriously brew coffee or prepare espresso!
What is the nutritional value of the Carnivore Latte?
The Carnivore Latte is a good source of protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients. The bone broth provides collagen, amino acids, and minerals, while the egg yolks offer additional protein, truly good fats, and nutrients from the usual vitamins and minerals to more fancy-sounding lutein, zeaxanthin, and choline, which are important for overall health and well-being. The grass-fed butter or tallow contributes beneficial fats.
Why is the Carnivore Latte better than a regular latte?
I’m glad you asked! The Carnivore Latte presents a compelling alternative to a regular latte for several reasons: Firstly, unlike a regular latte, which is coffee-based, the Carnivore Latte eliminates the exposure to plant toxins found in coffee — such as caffeine that is a neurotoxin — offering a unique and nourishing beverage option of highly-absorbable nutrients.
Additionally, traditional lattes contain milk, which has natural sugars (=carbs) that may lead to a spike in your blood glucose levels, especially when these carbs are in liquid form.
Moreover, milk forms casomorphin during digestion, a peptide that can have opioid effects on the body, potentially leading to various health concerns. Casomorphin has been associated with digestive issues and has the potential to negatively impact overall well-being, making the Carnivore Latte a preferable choice for those seeking a beverage that aligns with the principles of the carnivore lifestyle while avoiding the potential drawbacks associated with traditional lattes.
Can I customize the Carnivore Latte to suit my preferences?
Of course! You can personalize the Carnivore Latte by adjusting the sweetness — or saltiness — level to your liking. Additionally, you can experiment with different types of bone broth and other ingredients to create variations that cater to your taste preferences while staying true to the essence of this unique drink. Please check the Tips for Variations section for further ideas.
Can the Carnivore Latte be enjoyed at any time of the day?
Absolutely! The Carnivore Latte is versatile and can be enjoyed not only as a morning pick-me-up but also throughout the day, also in the evening, as it doesn’t contain any caffeine. Whether you’re seeking a nourishing beverage to fuel your morning or a satisfying drink to replace your afternoon coffee, or something else, the Carnivore Latte is an excellent choice that can be enjoyed on various occasions.
Are there any potential health benefits of consuming this drink regularly?
Regular consumption of the Carnivore Latte — especially instead of a regular latte — can provide a range of potential health benefits, including support for gut health, joint health, and overall well-being, as well as a sense of more energy and mental clarity. The combination of bone broth, egg yolks, and grass-fed butter or tallow offers a nutrient-dense blend that can contribute to a nourished body and a satisfying drinking experience.
Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Make This Plant-Free Latte
As I said, making this latte is super easy: just blend all the ingredients and gulp down! So, let’s take a detailed look at how to make this nourishing concoction:
First, pour 1 cup (240 ml) of piping hot bone broth into a blender jar. Any bone broth made from ruminant bones is fine. I have broth made from reindeer bones.
Next, add 2 extra-fresh yolks from preferably organic free-range eggs.
Finally, add 2 tablespoons tallow or butter. As we don’t have tallow here in Finland, I add butter. Actually, you can still add some natural sweetener — such as stevia, allulose, erythritol, or monk fruit — to your liking, but as I want to keep this drink strictly carnivore, I don’t add any sweetener.
Close the lid tightly.
Blend until white and frothy.
Pour into a heat-proof serving glass…
…and enjoy!
Yum!
How I Came up with This Nourishing Carnivore Drink
As the weather grew chillier and the cool air settled in, I found myself yearning for a comforting, hot beverage to warm me up. With limited heating in my house to save some electricity, I longed for a drink that would not only provide warmth but also nourishment without relying on coffee — which I quit some time ago.
This desire led me on a quest to create a unique and satisfying alternative to traditional — or even keto — lattes. Drawing inspiration from the principles of my carnivore lifestyle, I set out to craft a beverage that would not only align with my dietary preferences but also offer the nourishment and warmth I craved.
After pondering over various ingredients, I discovered the perfect combination of piping-hot bone broth, egg yolks, and grass-fed butter (I would have used tallow if I could get it) to create a drink that turned into this Carnivore Latte.
This delightful concoction not only satisfied my craving for a hot, nourishing drink but also became a staple in my daily routine, providing a comforting and satisfying beverage option that perfectly complements the harsh winter weather while fitting perfectly into my plant-free and coffee-free lifestyle.

Tips for Variations
If you get bored with your basic Carnivore Latte (although I don’t understand why!), here are some tips on how to swap the ingredients while still keeping the drink carnivorish:
- Bone Broth and Egg Yolk Latte: For a simplified version, you can create a nourishing latte using just piping-hot bone broth and egg yolks. Simply blend the bone broth with 2—5 egg yolks until frothy for a warm and protein-rich beverage.
- Bone Marrow Latte: Incorporate bone marrow into the recipe for a decadent and nutrient-dense variation. Blend piping-hot bone broth with bone marrow and egg yolks to create a luscious and deeply nourishing Carnivore Latte. Personally, I adore bone marrow and its rich taste and melt-in-the-mouth texture.
- Heavy Cream and Egg Yolk Latte: This variation combines the richness of heavy cream with the creaminess of egg yolks to create a luscious and satisfying plant-free latte. Blend piping-hot bone broth with a splash of heavy cream and 2 egg yolks for a decadent and nourishing beverage.
- Ghee Latte: Replace the grass-fed butter or tallow with ghee to infuse the latte with a distinct, nutty flavor. This variation offers a dairy-based option that aligns with the carnivore lifestyle while providing a unique taste profile. Ghee doesn’t contain milk proteins that upset the systems of many people, so it’s a safer option than butter.
- Bone Broth and Collagen Latte: Enhance the nutritional content of the latte by incorporating grass-fed collagen into the recipe. Blend piping-hot bone broth with 2 egg yolks and a scoop of grass-fed collagen for a protein-packed and nourishing Carnivore Latte that does good for your hair, skin, and joints.

General Prattling
My weeks are usually pretty busy, but this week was beyond busy — although very fruitful, and I enjoyed every second.
Most of the week I was working on my own spice mix products that I launched on Wednesday on my Finnish Instagram channel.
I launched five high-quality spice mixes for Christmas: gingerbread spice, glögi (mulled wine) spice, Finnish Christmas bread spice, freshly ground bitter orange, and organic Ceylon cinnamon powder.
I have posted a few spice recipes here on my blog, for example, for authentic Finnish gingerbread spice and Finnish glögi spice. However, the spices I launched now are even further developed from those recipes to match the actual spices I used for those products.
I also have a powerful spice grinder that I use to make freshly ground spices. When using seeds like caraway or aniseed, it’s important to use fresh seeds and grind them right before packing to prevent the delicate oils and flavors from getting rancid.
Next week, I will be traveling to Frankfurt, Germany, to attend an expo to hopefully find more high-quality organic ingredients and maybe even contract manufacturers who could create products for me. I bet it will be an interesting week!

Is there any reason why you couldn’t use the whole egg or is it strictly yolks only? Thank you for the recipes and best regards from beautiful Wisconsin USA.
elviira
Yolks are more nutritious and make the latte creamy. Whites have avidin that binds to biotin blocking its absorption. Well, after all, it’s nothing major and shouldn’t prevent people from eating whole eggs and egg whites. But personally, I prefer yolks because of their creaminess. You can naturally use a whole egg, no problem.
