Can you imagine, Halloween is already day after tomorrow! Now it’s a good time to think of last-minute preparations. If you are still unsure what drinks to serve, this “Spider Blood Shot” is a great option. This iced tea creation is bloody tasty and easy to make! Again, the presentation is everything, so make sure to get enough syringes and schnapps glasses for serving.
Tips for preparing and serving the drink
You can use your favorite black tea, however the Wild Berry Zinger™ tea is there for a reason. I tested several red-colored teas, but the Wild Berry Zinger™ simply gave the best reddish hue by far.
You can use your favorite sweetener. Just adjust the sweetness to your liking. I prefer to add the sweetener with the boiling water. The sweetener dissolves perfectly and makes the liquid transparent.
My favorite way is to serve the drink in small, 5-ml syringes and place the syringes in schnapps glasses. Each guest can empty her syringe to the schnapps glass and enjoy the contents.
The yield of the tea looks ridiculously small — just approximately 1/2 cup (120 ml), or slightly more. However, if you take a 5-ml syringe per serving, you get altogether 24 servings. You can always prepare an extra batch, just in case you end up with some really thirsty surprise guests.
You can naturally use your imagination and serve the drink in the way you prefer.
Tips for variation
You can experiment with different flavors of black tea. Lemon juice can be also replaced with lime juice, however lime juice has more carbs than lemon juice. In any case, I recommend to use citrus juice since it gives a nice, fresh taste to this drink.
If you would like to get more excitement for an adult party, you can replace the water with vodka or other colorless, unsweetened alcohol.
Ingredients
- 2 bags Wild Berry Zinger™ tea
- 1 bag black tea (flavored or unflavored)
- 1/2 cup = 120 ml boiling water
- 3 tablespoons Confectioner’s Style Swerve OR powdered erythritol
- 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3 cups = 710 ml cold water for serving
Instructions
- Place all tea bags, boiling water, sweetener and the lemon juice in a heatproof mug.
- Let steep and cool down to room temperature and then refrigerate until cold.
- Remove the tea bags when ready to serve. Squeeze carefully to save all the liquid. Be careful not to break the tea bags.
- For one serving, you need a schnapps glass, one 5-ml (0.17 fl oz) syringe and 1 fl oz (30 ml) cold water.
- Fill the syringe with tea. Place it in the schnapps glass.
- Pour 1 fl oz (30 ml) cold water into the glass and serve.
- When ready to consume, release the contents of the syringe into the water and enjoy!
